Meet Julie Anne

It started as a  deep passion in caring for people living with dementia.  As a teenager I landed a job working as a dietary aide in a nursing home.  Little did I know that would start the gears for a lifelong passion for caring for people living with dementia.  When I was 15 years old, I learned very quickly that reality orientation was not a successful approach when caring for a person living with dementia.  When I tried to bring them back to my reality I was often faced with anger, frustration or more confusion.

I have learned many skills by working for years with families and people living with dementia providing in home personal care, as an Activity Director in a nursing home,  a nursing coordinator at an Adult Day Center, and as a staff nurse and nurse educator in a nursing home and hospital.  I was fortunate to have the opportunity to start taking courses to become certified in different techniques to be able to support families and staff caring for people with dementia related illness'.

As a small business, I pride myself on giving personal attention and dedication to every client that chooses to work with me.  My approach is rooted in understanding and love above all else.

My Motivation

My motivation to focus on dementia care,  is because of my passion for making peoples lives better however I can.  When I work with a person living with dementia I always start interactions with a smile.  My approach is positive and consistent.  I know it's not easy for the person living with dementia to come to terms with the changes that are happening with their brain. I also understand the grief a family feels as they experience their loved one slowly slipping away.   I believe in making connections and caring for the whole family.

"Julie Anne, we just wanted to take the time to let you know how much of a special person you are and that you made such a difference in my fathers & our lives and wanted to thank you for all that you have done." Brian McHugh
